Great British Talent - Elizabeth Ashdown & Kit Kemp
It is such a joy to be featured alongside renowned interior designer Kit Kemp MBE in the Great British Talent October issue of Country Homes & Interiors magazine. Being featured alongside Kit Kemp—a designer admired for her bold use of colour, eclectic patterns, and hand crafted designs—is an incredible honour.
Kit and I share plenty of synergies in our approach to our work - the joy of colour, craftsmanship and designing outside the box, to name just a few. Both of us believe in the power of using craft to delight, inspire and surprise, creating spaces and objects that are not just aesthetically pleasing but deeply personal.
Craftsmanship is at the cornerstone of our work. Kit’s eye for detail is mirrored in my own passementerie work where every tassel, trim, braid and tuft is meticulously handcrafted. Both of us prioritise quality over mass production, believing that it’s the fine craftsmanship that adds depth and character to a space.
Kit’s eclectic style pushes the boundaries of interiors blending different textures, patterns, and influences to create something entirely unique. Similarly, I create unusual passementerie designs that step away from convention, allowing clients to commission truly one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect their individual style.
It’s this shared philosophy of creativity, colour and craft that made our feature in Country Homes & Interiors so special. Being interviewed with someone who values originality and true craftsmanship as much as I do was a true pleasure.
Watch this space for a forthcoming collaboration with Kit Kemp!
