A Fiesta of Colour: Bold Passementerie from the Kaleidoscope Collection
Kaleidoscope Braid in ‘Fiesta’
Step into the vibrant world of Fiesta—a joyful, sun-drenched colourway from my Kaleidoscope collaboration with renowned Passementerie house, Samuel & Sons. In this post, I share some of the vivid passementerie created in this palette, from statement braids to spectacular tassel fringes. In this post, I'm focusing on just a handful of designs in the Fiesta colourway—there's so much more to explore in future posts!
First up is my Kaleidoscope Braid —a jewel-toned fusion of emerald, tangerine, fuchsia, and rosy copper that captures the spirited essence of a celebratory Fiesta.
Someone recently described my work as “doing clever things with colour,” and I think that perfectly sums up my approach. Colour is my most important material—it’s always at the heart of everything I create, whether I’m working with bold contrasts or soft tonal harmonies. The Fiesta colourway grew out of playful, unexpected combinations explored in my sketchbook and evolved into a glorious collection of braids, brush fringes, tasseled borders, piping cords and Crete designs.
This colour way is all about the pure joy and magic that unexpected colour pairings can bring to a contemporary interior. Just imagine the Kaleidoscope braid adorning a lampshade or edging an ottoman—it’s the kind of detail that instantly lifts the mood and makes you smile every time you see it.

I am drawn to bold and vibrant colour combinations because they radiate energy, ignite creativity, and have the power to transform spaces into dynamic expressions of individuality and joy. Colour is so much more than a visual element—it weaves narratives, evokes emotions, and communicates deeply personal stories. It has the power to set the tone of a space, shaping the way we feel and interact within it.

Colour can create harmony or contrast, serenity or vibrancy, and serves as an extension of who we are, reflecting our individuality and cultural influences. It transforms a room into an experience, infusing it with energy, personality, and purpose. Whether subtle or bold, colour speaks to us in ways words often cannot, connecting us to our surroundings and to each other.

Every piece of passementerie in our Kaleidoscope collaboration was originally designed and hand-woven as a prototype in my studio, before Samuel & Sons' specialist passementerie mill expertly translated my designs, capturing the essence of my handwork in their beautifully crafted mill-produced lengths.
