Four Ways to Learn Passementerie With Me

Passementerie - the art of handmade tassels, rosettes, woven braids and trims - is practised by only a handful of specialists in the UK, and teaching it well is something I care about as much as making it. I'm often asked how people can learn with me, so I've pulled everything together on one new page: Passementerie Tuition.

There are four routes to learning with me, depending on how you like to learn:

  • Group workshops and classes, held at some wonderful partner institutions - the Royal School of Needlework, Hand & Lock, the Pitt Rivers Museum, Au Ver à Soie in Paris, and Creative Experiences. Small, hands-on, and set in very special places.

  • Online classes, for anyone learning from home, anywhere in the world - fully structured, with materials lists sent in advance, plus one-to-one online tuition if you'd like something tailored just to you.

  • Private studio tuition, one-to-one from my garden studio on the Surrey/Sussex border, easily reached from London.

  • Private workshops, designed around your group, wherever you'd like to hold them.

All the specifics - dates, venues, and how to book - now live in one place too: the new Events Diary. It's worth bookmarking, as it's where I'll keep everything current: from Royal School of Needlework weekends and the Pitt Rivers Museum's one-day tassel making, to unique masterclasses at locations such as Au Ver à Soie in Paris, and the 2027 tassel retreat taking in Milan and Turin with Creative Experiences.

If you've ever wanted to learn this craft - whether you're a complete beginner, or refining specialist technique - take a look and see what fits.
